Whoa, 'bout time, McCabe....

Just a little update on how I'm doing, which Morgan's been promising to do it for months now...
I am still hanging in there, looking good and quite healthy, all things considered. Got in lots of sunshine time this summer, while M was working on the garden, and hit the beach a couple of times when the lifeguards were off duty...We can go more regulaarly now that the season is over and there's no one there to officially shoo us away. Max still thinks I'm one of his chew toys, but he's starting to be less agressive with me.
Hope to get some new pix up soon, so check back!

Okay, been a while since Morgan could type much, cuz her carpal tunnel was acting up - offered her some of my glucosamine but she's allergic to crustaceans, said she better not take that.
Anyway, so here's my cat story, kinda dull I think, but M&T laughed when it happened.
The cat that lives here, Nero, just figured out that I'm okay, since I can't always tell where he is. The other day: I'm sitting with M&T in their office, listening to some tunes, kinda drifting off to sleep, when the cat walked by just close enough to brush his tail across my face. Walkin' kinda slow-like, a bit tentatively, then bolted away to hide under the desk. Several moments later, he does it again, same routine. I think, okay, guess he wants me to play with him. So I stood up, and got into the play-position and woofed at him. He runs away. I can't tell just where he is, so I cock my ears and move my head around to "see" where he went. I'm telling you, this guy is stealthy, next thing I know, he's under me, arching his back and rubbing against my belly, then poof!, he's gone. This goes on for a while. I got real bored and lay back down to finish my nap. I'm gonna just completely ignore him from here on out.
Got some good news: passed my Senior Wellness exam last week with flying colors, good kidney, liver and calcium levels, no diabetes. And the BEST part -? I've finally kicked the darned UTI that was troubling me for so long - no bacteria, yay! Although I hear some x-rays are next up to see if I have stones and check on my heart.
Pretty doggone cold here, still more snow. Sunny days, but none of us want to be out too long. Max especially, he doesn't have furry paws like Iris and I do, plus he's got more of a Dane in him than Husky when it comes to his coat so he gets cold unless he's running full tilt and it's too icy to do that.
Well, take care and write if you get a chance!

Hey, there you all!
We've got snow AND sunshine here in NW Indiana - makes me one happy beast! Walking in the woods near home yesterday, I caught scent of deer tracks and followed them as far as I could, without getting Morgan too tangled up in berry brambles. Picked up on rabbit and squirrel, too. Boy, they're goofy - so erratic. I mean, their tracks just criss-cross all over the place! I end up going in circles trying to follow them. Max and Iris were out, too, but they just lope along with Tony - don't they know there's some charismatic mega- fauna to run down? (Although deer are as good as it gets here in IN., alas, no caribou or elk or moose.)
Trying out some new dog food - Canidae All Stages - pretty good, I must say. Wolfed down on it last night and this morning. Usually not a big fan of dry dog food, but this stuff is good! Morgan says it has lots of things that are good for dogs and none of the stuff that isn't.
Had email from Julie from NLSDR about the Rivers Newsletter. Asked Morgan to email Rivers and ask if was okay to link his blog here and he emailed me back and said "Sure!", so we did. Morgan said she was glad to get the newsletter cuz it tells more about me when I was first rescued. And it mentions Tammie from NLSDR and Michael Durkin who were a couple more people who really helped get me and I send huge thanks to them!
Oh, well, gotta nap now, but check back later for a cat tale!

Just got brushed after my walk. Not a real fan of brushing but I'm blowing coat again, so I'm trying to be patient with Morgan. At first, I wouldn't let her anywhere near me with a brush even though I was a mess. I'd growl and snap, but she was determined. She or Tony would rub my ears, which I really like, while petting me. Then she started to run a soft bristle brush over my coat for a few minutes and give me a biscuit if I wasn't too grouchy about it. She finally figured out that if she give me a bone to chew, I'll let her brush for a while. They keep telling me I look great, so all this grooming is worth it. And my teeth are looking much better, as well.
Took a while before I would let her do my tail, but I found I really like that and now I'm finally letting her brush my belly. I've got a patch of black fur there, right in the middle of all the white. The massage aspect of it's good, helps ease my arthritis.
Been taking fish oil every day, coat is looking good, hoping it helps my heart and joints, too. Getting glucosamine/chondroitin with manganese, vitamin C and E supplements, eating good fish/meat/poultry proteins.
Gotta go - off to PetSmart! - whoo-hoo!
